RESTART UPDATE: JULY 23

  • AUGUST 24: All students begin with remote learning
All students will be in a remote learning environment through September 4.

  • AUGUST 31 - SEPTEMBER 4: Continued remote learning and student orientations
Remote learning continues and students who have selected in-person learning will attend an orientation at their school. Remote-only learners will also have an orientation opportunity, to be developed and planned by each school.

  • SEPTEMBER 8: Grades PreK-5 begin in-person learning
Remote learning option will still be available.

  • SEPTEMBER 8: Grades 6-12 begin in-person learning with hybrid model
Middle and high school students will operate on a hybrid schedule allowing for alternating days of in-person and remote learning. Remote learning option will still be available.

Public Health Levels and Learning Models

Jeffco Public Schools will move between remote, hybrid, and full in-person models depending on local public health determinations.

Our ability to reopen schools and restore in-person learning experiences is contingent on the people in Jefferson County, and in the state of Colorado, doing your part to keep the spread of the virus down in our state and communities. The conditions under which we reopen schools are all of our responsibility.

JEFFCO RESTART PLAN: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

THE BASICS

Our July 23rd update outlines in detail the health and safety guidelines and other mitigation efforts the District is taking to prepare for start of school on August 24. For the greatest detail, visit the document linked above and review these items on pages 3 - 5. Areas covered in the document include:
  • Masks: Required by all students and staff in Jeffco buildings.

  • Hand washing: Required at regularly scheduled intervals; sanitizing available everywhere.

  • Social distancing: Students and staff will practice 6' distancing where possible and utilize masks when it is not possible.

  • Staff and student COVID testing: District will provide rapid availability testing for symptomatic staff and students, or if exposed.

  • Cleaning: Cleaning and sanitizing will take place; materials and supplies are in schools now.

  • Cohorts: Students will be grouped in cohorts during in-person learning.

  • Health screening and medical safe rooms: Daily temperature checks and health screen questions required by all students and staff. Symptomatic students and staff will relocate to medical safe room and sent home.

  • Ventilation: Modifications and improvements have been made to systems to increase fresh air flow.

  • Quarantining and school closures: Decisions will be made in collaboration with Jefferson County Public Health and on a case-by-case basis.

  • Food & Nutrition: Meal service program available in school “grab & go” style. Students will eat in their classrooms or other designated areas.

  • Transportation: Bus transportation will be available for eligible students with new protocols including face coverings and reduced capacity of riders.

  • Visitors: Volunteers, visitors, or non-employees will not be allowed to enter the building during the school day.

  • Choice and Electives: Teachers will rotate to classrooms. Plans are being made at the school level and will be communicated to families.

  • School Schedules: Schools will be developing their building schedules and logistical plans for the school day and will communicate to families.

  • Code of Conduct: Students enrolling for in-person learning are expected to adhere to all public health guidelines, protocols, and procedures; attendance at school will serve as agreement to these terms.

We are asking that families please complete the new form by Friday, August 7 to support school planning. Reach out to your school if you feel unprepared to complete the form.

FOR STUDENTS Grades 5-12:
