2022 Program: June 6th-July 15th

(no school July 1st, 4th and 5th)

Girls with notebooksJeffco Summer of Early Learning (JSEL) is a free, 6-week, intensive summer school program that focuses on increasing students’ literacy skills

The 2022 program will be offer in person and remote options.

  • Students will work with licensed teachers in a small group setting with no more than 15 students in each class.
  • Each day, students will participate in both independent and guided reading activities.
  • JSEL is for students incoming grades K-5 (grade level for 22-23 school year)

Activities Include:

  • Class meetings
  • Small group instruction in reading
  • Personalized lessons for each student
  • Story time with Jeffco Public Librarians
  • Online field trips, art and enrichment weekly

Student Eligibility:

Students entering kindergarten - 5th grade for the 2022-23 school year and are on a READ plan or at risk of needing a READ plan (based on the most current data available) can enroll in JSEL. Also for 2022, we will also accept students in 3rd and 4th grade with a READ Plan or at risk for needing a READ Plan.

Incoming kindergarten students can only register for the in-person program. The remote program is designed for students who have had experience with Jeffco’s remote learning tools and requires a district device.

Some details of the in-person program:

  • Each day begins with a soft start from 8 - 8:30am.
  • Class will take place from 8:30-11:30am Monday through Friday
  • Students will participate in a variety of engaging literacy activities in a small group setting with no more than 15 students
  • All COVID mitigation protocols in place at the time will be followed

Register using the appropriate online form at the top of the page. Parents/guardians will be notified via email of acceptance into the program.

The majority of the funds are READ Act funds provided to the district from the State of Colorado specifically for the intention of intervening with our most struggling readers. Additional funds from both the Jeffco Schools Foundation and Curriculum and Instruction supplement the READ Act funding.

Amplify ReadingThis tool is used by students for reading practice. 

  • Visit and use the log-in and password provided from your teacher.

Khan Academy: This tool may be used by students for video-based learning and practice. 

RAZ Kids: This tool may be used by students for reading practice. 

  • Step 1.  Go to
