AP & IB

Jeffco Public Schools offers several advanced learning options. Read below to find out more about specific schools and programs.

Advanced Placement

Program Description

Advanced Placement courses give Jeffco students another way to earn college credit. At the end of an AP course, students must pass a standardized national test to qualify for college credit. Qualifying grades on AP exams may earn anywhere from 3 to 6 credits for a single course to up to three years of college standing. AP results are widely accepted for credit at most U.S. universities (approximately 3,800) and at approximately 640 international schools in 46 countries.

Please check your high school's registration guide to find out what Advanced Placement courses are available.

Students may earn college credit for scoring a 3 or higher the AP exams.  The credit is guaranteed to transfer but it’s not guaranteed to apply to degree requirements. See the transfer table

International Baccaulaureate Programs

Program Description

The International Baccalaureate (IB) program was founded in 1967 to provide a rigorous, well-rounded education for students throughout the world. IB prepares students for adulthood by enhancing skills in creativity, critical thinking, technology, and international understanding.

Students may earn college credit for the IB exams and scoring a 4 or higher. Students who completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme shall, at a minimum, receive 24 semester credits, which shall apply to general education, elective or major requirements (at the public institution’s discretion), for IB exams administered as part of the Diploma Programme on which the student received a score of 4 or higher. The credit is guaranteed to transfer but it’s not guaranteed to apply to degree requirements. See the transfer table.
