Password Reset for Students and Staff

In Jeffco, we place high value on being a good digital citizen, whether a student or a staff member. Password management and protection is a significant part of fulfilling this call, and is required to stay as secure as possible in today's digital world.

Jeffco's Password Reset Tool allows student and staff to change their password at any time. There is no need to contact IT for this purpose.

Students and staff can use our Password Reset Tool to change their password at any time, whether it is required or not. For all users the tool does require a one-time registration if being used for the first time.

Look for the Icon!
Students and staff will see this Password Reset Tool icon on all student-use school computers and devices, and all staff computers, for easy access:

If you have further questions, refer to our Tech Tips page on password management.

IMPORTANT: If students or staff have any personal devices (tablets, phones, etc.) set up to access the Jeffco wireless network, and/or Jeffco email, calendar, and contacts, you must also go in to your device settings and change the password to the new one right away. Contact your device service provider if you need assistance.

Tips for creating a Jeffco password:

  • Must be at least 8 characters long
  • Never write a password on a piece of paper
  • Never share passwords with anyone
  • Do not reuse your previous password
  • Use different passwords for Jeffco and personal accounts
An easy-to-recall method for creating a secure password is to create a password by using the first letter of each word in a sentence that's easy for you to remember. For example: “I like to ride bikes on Saturday morning” creates the password: “IltrboSm”

notes FOR STAFF

Staff passwords have one more required component, in addition to the bulleted list above. They should also contain at least two of the following:
  • lower case letter
  • upper case letter
  • number
  • special character (&, #, %, etc.)
Password changes using the tool will occur for the following systems: Bridge to Curriculum, Campus, Clever, Email, Enrich, Google Apps, PeopleSoft, SOARS, and Schoology.

The tool does not currently change passwords for: SchoolMessenger Communicate and TeacherMatch. Password changes for these applications should continue to be made using the password change method within the program.

If you cannot log in to your workstation because you forgot your password, it's ok! The Password Reset Tool icon is on the login page - it says "Forgot password?" It will take you to the tool. Once you reset your password, be sure to log out of your workstation then log in with your new password to verify access.
