About the jeffco remote learning program

Why are we requiring families and students to choose between in person learning at their current school and remote learning at a central program for the 21/22 school year?

JRLP Q&A with Matt Walsh, Lead Administrator

  • Jeffco Public Schools achieved something that few other school districts were able to do in the 2020-21 school year. We provided both in person and remote learning for all of our students at their current schools. Over 20,000 families elected to be 100% remote in the 2020/21 school year.

  • For 2021/22, we are planning for 100% in person at your current schools, accompanied by mitigation strategies aligned with the anticipated conditions that will exist in August of 2021. We are also building upon the valuable lessons we have learned as it relates to delivering a high quality, consistent, and equitable remote learning experience for all students.

  • As a result, we are asking families to choose between in person at a current school OR a remote experience at a central program. Each of these options are offered in order to provide high quality, consistent, and equitable experiences in both environments, for all students across the entire district. Separating the instructional environments and focusing on either in person or remote allows schools and teachers to provide the best educational experience possible for the students in their school.

  • Therefore, if your first priority is to enroll in the exact courses and activities offered at your current school, we recommend that you enroll in person at your current school. If your first priority is being in a remote learning environment, then we recommend that you enroll in our remote central program and begin working with us to meet your other priorities and needs.
