Before and After School Care Procedures

The use of school for before and after childcare programs is regulated by Board of Education Policy KF/KF-R. There are requirements, which must be met before a care provider may use a school.

Forms Required:
  • Application for Building & Facility Use
  • Lease Agreement
  • State Child Care License
  • Certificate of Insurance

Process:

The applicant is required to meet with the school principal to discuss school policies and regulations.

Obtain a Building and Facility Use Request Form. Complete the form and return it to the school where the program is to be located.

The school principal will review the form and approve or deny the request.

Review the Facilities Use Guidelines.

School activities will always take priority over other events and this policy may affect the availability of the school for care provider programs.  During certain holidays, schools may be closed.

The school will route the completed Building and Facility Use Form, signed by the principal, to the General Accounting Department which will review the application and negotiate the lease agreement with the applicant. The General Accounting Department will provide a lease agreement to the applicant.

Return the lease agreement, along with the state child care license (or application) and proof of insurance in the specified amounts listing each school location.

Yearly, applicants must submit an approved building and facility use form for school year calendar dates, lease agreement, state daycare license, and proof of insurance.

For programs operating over summer break, a new, approved Building and Facility Use form must be submitted.
