Dear Jeffco Community,

Can you believe it is the holiday season already? I hope you have the opportunity to visit our schools — Veteran's Day programs, charitable donation projects, musical performances, athletic competitions and more are abundant this time of year. It is great to see our kids in action, and I am always amazed at the things they accomplish.

Our school board race wrapped up, and directors Brad Rupert (District 1), Susan Harmon (District 2) and Board President Ron Mitchell all retained their seats. I was pleased the election was conducted in a respectful manner; kudos to all candidates for their professionalism. It takes a lot of dedication and commitment to run for public office, and, considering this is a volunteer position, I believe we should show appreciation to all that gave their time to support our schools and community.

The Jeffco Generations vision is a hot topic of discussion. I invite you to join in; we have a Facebook group to discuss aspects of the vision. Learning is the focus of Jeffco Generations — how do we keep the main thing the main thing? I'd love to hear your thoughts. This input, combined with an internal process of goal setting, capacity evaluation and identifying measurable goals, will lead to our new Strategic Plan. We anticipate the plan will be fully developed by March.

I wish you and your family joy this season. I am thankful for the opportunity to serve this wonderful community and look forward to all we are going to accomplish!
