Schools as Community Hubs

Our public schools serve as a remarkable network of support for kids and families across Jeffco. In partnership with community organizations including other government agencies, nonprofits, faith-based organizations, and the business community – we can strengthen our network and work toward creating a Jeffco where no child suffers from hunger, preventable illness, lack of dental care, or lack of mental health supports.

Theory of Action

IF school and district leaders strategically partner with government, non-profit, faith-based, and business communities to provide a network of supports (nutritional, medical, social-emotional, safety, and educational) for students and families before, during, and after the school day,
THEN students will be ready to learn.

SMART Goal

  • By 2020 two pilot schools will have an increase of .15 or higher on the student, family, and staff Schools as Community Hub indices.

  • By 2024 fifteen identified schools with high free and reduced lunch rates and who are implementing Schools as Community Hubs approaches, will have an increase of .20 or higher on the student, family, and staff Schools as Community Hub indices.
