Technology and Data Privacy Advisory Committee

The Jeffco Public Schools Technology and Data Privacy Advisory Committee (TDPAC) advises the Board of Education on district technology strategies, systems and data governance.

The committee:

  • Reviews the district's technology plan, which aligns with instructional goals and opportunities for technology innovation.
  • Advises, encourages improvement and ensures adherence to district privacy policies and practices.

Purpose of the TDPAC

As defined in the Board policy’s GP-06: Board Committee Principles, TDPAC will:

  • Assess the instructional technology needs of the district to advise on specific goals.
  • Review the technology policies and district’s technology plan to evaluate and advise on issues related to target areas.
  • Draft recommendations in support of how to allocate technology funds associated with infrastructure, integration, innovation and professional development.
  • Review security policies, data governance, and data privacy standards for best practices and make recommendations to the Board to accept or suggest modifications.
  • At the request of the Board, report on policy, operational, administrative and technological processes and procedures that relate to sensitive data, balancing security and privacy, data integrity and other privacy-related matters.
  • Promote a culture that embraces data privacy t to include employees, students, parents, contractors and state and federal partners.
  • When requested, provide feedback on current and planned or emerging technologies, including risks and impacts on data governance and security policies.
  • Review infrastructure, forecasts for demand and budget for wired and wireless bandwidth, processing and storage  including data center, wide area network (WAN) and school sites.
  • Review the district's cloud strategy to use computing technology and services whenever possible.
  • Provide insight on industry standards, changes and updates to educate district personnel on emerging technologies and innovations.

TDPAC Meetings

TDPAC meetings will be at least quarterly and more frequently when necessary. Meetings will be held at the Education Center, 1829 Denver West Drive, Golden.
